Imagine a world that is sideways…
A world where you can taste sound and feel colour.
Where straight lines wiggle, and stories don’t stay on the page.
Where creativity flows through the kitchen taps and brushing your teeth is magic.
InSideWays is a sensory show delivered straight to your door, to be unwrapped and enjoyed over two weeks. A series of playful sensory experiences, designed to share together as a family, will fill your home with sounds, music, smells, light, colour, textures and tastes. Rooms will gradually transform until your imagination has completely re-decorated! InSideWays reveals the extraordinary in the everyday.
InSideWays is an accessible At Home show from the award-winning pioneers of Sensory Theatre, Oily Cart (UK), Sweden’s trailblazing sensory producers Scen:se, and regional theatres Folkteatern Gävleborg and Estrad Norr. Created for and with disabled young people and their families, InSideWays explores how new ways of playing together can change the way we see our homes and each other.

What do families need to know beforehand?
This experience is designed to open up all your senses. There will be activities for the adults, siblings and children, some individual and some shared. You will be given simple instructions and all the equipment needed will be provided. You will be provided with access resources around this experience such as a social story. You will be sent clear information about exactly what to expect beforehand. You do not need a big space to do this activity. You will not be made to act, sing or perform as part of this activity.

What can parents and caregivers expect to happen?
A package will be posted to your home. Inside this is a series of sensory activities that you can play with over a couple of weeks. The activities will include sounds, music, smells, lights, textures and even tastes. Every activity will be accessible and designed to be enjoyed together as a family. Bit by bit, over the two weeks, your home will become more colourful, playful and extraordinary, filled with sensory fun and magic. There will be a simple story for you to follow and enjoy together. At the end of the two weeks, the box will be collected and you will be left with lots of lovely memories.
