Host a Sensory Tea Party
Pop on the kettle, bake some cakes, and support every child’s right to culture, creativity, connection and joy!
Throughout May, we’re inviting our incredible Oily Cart community to host a Sensory Tea Party and help us raise £2,000. Your support will go directly towards making more immersive sensory experiences for families, with access at their heart.
- £1,000 – towards At Home show InSideWays touring to 50 families across the UK in Summer 2026
- £1,000 – towards access resources for interactive playspace SideWays Play
A Sensory Tea Party is a great way to celebrate and support Oily Cart:
- A Sensory Tea Party is a bit like an Oily Cart show: a fun shared experience full of things to touch, taste, see, smell and hear, where everyone can be themselves and be together.
- We believe theatre can happen anywhere, and so can your Sensory Tea Party: at home or at work, a picnic in the park or a buffet by the beach.
- Just like an Oily Cart performance, a Sensory Tea Party is led by you. There’s no right or wrong way, only your way. You could host a simple slice and a cuppa, or set up a sensory extravaganza: whatever works best for you and your guests.
- Plus, it’s Oily Cart’s 45th birthday this year, which calls for cake!
We’ve got everything you need to make hosting as easy as pie (…or cake)! Take a look at the resources below, then drop us a line: zoe@oilycart.org.uk. We’d love to hear what you’ve got planned, plus there’s plenty more we can share to support your event.
