‘Oily Cart’s Uncancellable Programme’: Sensory and inclusive theatre created for and with disabled young people during and post Covid-19.
This October, Oily Cart will release a report that we have commissioned from Dr Maria Varvarigou, sharing what we learnt during the pandemic and how to take these lessons forward post-Covid-19 to ensure disabled children, young people and artists are part of an inclusive cultural recovery.
We wanted to be able to share our findings with the wider industry in the UK and internationally with those interested in remote and accessible working practices and lifting the barriers of access for disabled theatre audiences who have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.
The launch event will be hosted by theatremaker Daryl Beeton, with Artistic Director Ellie Griffiths, Dr Maria Varvarigou and special guests to share the report. There will be a performance, presentation, panel discussion and Q&A session.
This is a free event, held on Zoom.
Date: 1.30 – 3pm (BST), Thursday October 14th (with a recording available for a week after)
You can register your place here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/oily-carts-uncancellable-programme-report-launch-tickets-169284220661
There will be a live transcript and BSL interpreters.
Exploring Oily Cart’s ‘Uncancellable Programme’, the sensory shows we made in new formats to reach shielding families during the pandemic and the report, we would like to inspire conversation around sensory theatre and accessible theatre practices. We hope you will join us.
Bookers will be sent a preview link to the report before the event. The report will be published publicly on 15th October.
